10 Things I Wish I Knew BEFORE HOMESCHOOLING!

This is especially essential with children who are at the stage when they are still developing their social skills and are just beginning to communicate. They need the presence of other children to develop their emotional maturity. Being closeted at home with only their siblings and their parents to talk to may result in a too-sheltered personality that may not be able to cope with the pressures of real life. Parents can actually decide on what to do to better teach the subject. This means that there can be more unstructured learning exercises such as visits to zoos or museums. Cons Lacking in social interaction One of the downsides of homeschooling program is the fact that it lacks the social component, which teaches the child to interact with other people. You will be the one who will to do all the lectures and all the checking of worksheets. You will also have to create your own curriculum, a set of lessons that you feel will be appropriate for your child. Because of the time that it will consume, most parents decide to quit their jobs and concentrate more on teaching their child. For instance, if a child is good in English but not in Math, they can actually forgo with the lesson in English for a day and concentrate on their Math lessons. With homeschooling everything is tailorfitted to suit the needs of the child. Still, like the traditional school setting, there are materials that are needed to teach the subjects to the kids. Home Study Program (HSP) and Charter Schools of California - Parents have the option to enroll their child to the nearest public school for a home-based study program, where the school will assign a teacher who will facilitate and check the student's home-schooling on a monthly basis. The tutorial program sessions are under the parent's responsibility at home. There are many reasons as to why a parent may decide to home school their child or children and some reasons may include the fact that traditional schools have their own philosophy and set of values that they teach to their students, so much so that certain basic lessons will be taught with certain slants toward their own preference.
